YouGather is a place for the groups you already belong to. We make money, when we do, from people paying for extras, never from ads or from selling data. This page says what we collect, why, and what you can do about it, in plain words.
Who we are
YouGather is operated by a small business registered in Peru. You can reach us at hello@yougather.app.
What we collect
Your email address, and the language you chose, when you join the waiting list or create an account.
Your name, photo and short bio, if you add them to your page.
What you post: text, photos, videos, comments and reactions, and which groups you posted them to.
Technical records that any website keeps: your IP address, browser type, the pages you open and when, and error reports. We keep these for 30 days to keep the service running and safe.
We do not collect your contacts, your location, or anything from other apps on your device.
Why we use it
To run YouGather: show your posts to the people in your groups, send you the emails you asked for, and keep your account safe.
To fix problems and understand how the service is used, in aggregate.
We do not use your data to show you ads, we do not sell it, and we do not build profiles of you for anyone.
Who can see what
Posts in a group are visible to the members of that group. Your page is visible to people who share a group with you, unless you turn on the public page option yourself. A post gets a public link only when you switch that on for that post.
Nobody outside your groups can see your content, and we do not show it to anyone else.
Where it is stored and who helps us
Your data is stored with Supabase (database and files) and served through Vercel (hosting) in the United States, with Cloudflare for the domain. Emails are sent through Resend. These providers process data only on our instructions and are bound by data processing agreements, including the standard contractual clauses for people in the EU.
We do not share your data with anyone else, except when the law requires it.
Your rights
You can see, change and export everything you posted from your settings, at any time, for free. You can delete your account yourself, which removes your profile and your posts.
If you live in the European Economic Area, you also have the rights under the GDPR to access, correct, erase, restrict and object, and to complain to your local data protection authority. People in Peru have the rights under Law 29733. Write to us and we answer within 30 days.
How long we keep things
Your content stays as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your content is removed within 30 days, except where we must keep a record by law. Backups are overwritten within 30 days after that.
Waiting list emails are deleted once we have invited you, or after one year if we have not launched.
Cookies
We use only the cookies the service needs: one to keep you signed in and one to remember your language. There are no tracking or advertising cookies, and no third-party analytics scripts.
Children
YouGather is not for children under 13. Where the law sets a higher age for consenting to a service like this, such as 16 in parts of the EU, a parent or guardian must agree first.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we tell you by email before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the current version.
